Senior Staff Engineer: Mechanical, San Francisco Bay Area.
Job Description:
Staff level Mechanical Engineer position to create designs for Robotics for EV charging systems. You will have an enormous opportunity to make a large impact on the design, architecture, and implementation of cutting-edge robotic products. This is an early stage startup with a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment. To be successful you need to be able to own the problem at hand and be comfortable with a degree of ambiguity.
Responsibilities:
• Integrate robot drive train using custom or stock components such as gear-motors, miniature gearboxes, bearings, slewing rings, ring gears, helical and flat springs, bearing seals, etc.,
• Creative synthesis of linkages and kinematic design to customize robot mechanics for EV application,
• Create designs that can withstand harsh environments,
• Interface with manufacturing house, bring up and debug electromechanical assemblies.
Required Skills:
• Expert in kinematic synthesis of mechanisms,
• Expert in mechanical designs for harsh environments and ingress protected designs,
• Expert in complex wiring management using cable carriers,
• Basic understanding of FEA tools,
• In-depth understanding of structural materials for small machines including plastics, silicone, steel, aluminum etc.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Inventor,
• Excellent written and oral communications skills.
Highly desired:
• Working knowledge of Matlab, Python, C, C++.
Education:
• BS-ME or MS-ME with 5+ years of relevant experience in robotics or mechanical design for harsh environments.

Job description:
Staff level Electronic Design Engineer position to create designs for Advanced EV charging systems. You will have an enormous opportunity to make a large impact on the design, architecture, and implementation of cutting-edge robotic products. This is an early stage startup with a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment. To be successful you need to be able to own the problem at hand and be comfortable with a degree of ambiguity.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the electrical engineering efforts for implementing a multi-processor embedded platform for integrated control of charging robots and digital control of dc-dc converters. Work with consultants and other teams on power device selection, mechanical and thermal packaging. Lead the engineering efforts from concept to production, including design, prototyping, and manufacturing,
• Design coils and antenna to create and detect low frequency (LF) near-field EM patterns for 3D sensing,
• Design, analyze and bring circuit designs to the maturity. Create detailed schematics to hand off to PCB layout, manufacture and assembly house.
Required Skills:
• Expert in sensor-rich microprocessor designs that include ADCs, DACs, control interfaces to servo motors or optic, magnetic and temperature sensors, op-amp design,
• Able to design dc-dc and ac-dc converters with and without isolation,
• Basics of antenna design and near-field EM patterns and what affects them,
• Able to create SPICE simulations and analyze design,
• Knowledge of best practices for PCB layouts, especially with respect to EMI, ESD and signal integrity,
• Basic firmware experience – able to get a PCB design working reliably from the ground up using common electrical, software or microprocessor debug tools,
• Knowledge of communication protocols like I2C, SPI, and MIPI,
• Excellent written and oral communications skills.
Highly desired:
• Experience with high-speed designs and best practices,
• Fundamentals of programming (C/C++), Matlab, OrCAD schematic capture.
Education:
• BS-EE or MS-EE with 5+ years of relevant experience in digital and analog electronics design.

Job Description
Staff level Embedded Software Design Engineer position to create software for Advanced EV charging systems. You will have an enormous opportunity to make a large impact on the design, architecture, and implementation of cutting-edge robotic products. This is an early stage startup with a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment. To be successful you need to be able to own the problem at hand and be comfortable with a degree of ambiguity.
Responsibilities:
• Architect and implement a multi-processor embedded system to interface - on one end with a vehicle and its driver and on the other end with a robot, a series of sensors such as camera and low-frequency antennas and a bank of dc-dc converters,
• Implement and optimize OpenCV API calls to extract 3D sensing information,
• Implement inverse kinematics, motor control, closed-loop control of constant voltage and current control of dc-dc converters,
• Maintain best practices in code repository and revision management,
• Participate in tasks such as hardware bring-up and debug.
Required Skills:
• Vision processing using OpenCV, inverse kinematics, wifi stack, algorithm development, 3D sensing,
• Expert in embedded software design, development and debugging,
• Expert in coding in C/C++,
• Expert in RTOS or Embedded Linux,
• System level integration experience including open source packages such as OpenCV
• Expert in Computer Science fundamentals: object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem-solving, and complexity analysis,
• Experience with Linux development environment,
• In-depth knowledge Linux such as compiling and updating the kernel, applying patches. Good understanding to work with UEFI,
• Experience with real-time debugging tools such as “in-circuit emulator” (software and hardware),
• Excellent written and oral communications skills.
Highly desired:
• Strong debugging/troubleshooting skills of embedded systems,
• Board level experience,
• Knowledge of serial interface protocols like I2C, SPI, and MIPI-CSIx,
• USB programming for a small processor.
Education:
• B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related with 5+ years of relevant experience in embedded software.
